New Pets in the Home-War or Peace

Anytime you are bringing something new into your home, you are going to have an adjustment period.  You have to be ready for this big change especially when you are bringing a new pet into your home that already has existing pets.  This is going to be something that may take some time to get used to but you have to make it work. You need to make your new pet comfortable as well as the other pets that are in the home too.
There are some things that you will have to do once you get your new pet home. You may want to make sure they have their own little space to be comfortable in. this may mean that if your other pets have comfortable beds or specific areas where they sleep at night you need to make sure that your new animal has it too. This will give them a sense of belonging and feeling as if they have arrived home.
You should also make sure that you are keeping an eye on the new pet as they interact with the existing pets. You should be aware of any problems that you may think of. Do not let the pets go unattended and use your best judgment when it comes to what you need to watch out for and any problems that may be happening around the home.
Be stern with the new pet but also make sure that you are keeping love in your tone. You need the animal to feel that they are wanted and if you are too harsh, you are only going to scare them from starting to accept you.  There are many different ways that you can scold your pet without making them constantly afraid of you and all that you do.  You need to let your pet have the adjustment time that they are looking for.  The others animals will have to learn to adjust as well. You do not want to push the animals into getting close and being in the same space all the time.  You should allow your pet to move around the environment and get to learn about the different things around them.  Allow your pet to have some quiet time and have his or her own little space to retreat to.  You may want to have crates for the individual animals to give them the sense of belonging.
You should give your pet a few days to let them learn about their surroundings before you start introducing them to your friends and family.  They will need time on their own to understand where they are and what they are not calling home.  You will also need to make sure that you are helping the pet feel reassured that they are welcome and wanted in this environment.
Make sure that your new pet is free from parasites and is in good health. You need to be sure that you are going to be able to take on any more challenge that may come your way with this animal.  Always supervise the children and the other adults with the pets to make sure that they are able to learn how to cope and handle any more problems that may occur.
With the right guidance and some good rules around the home, you will find that all of your new pets will start to manage around the others. You will not have to worry about big mishaps happening when you are there to supervise and make sure that everyone is happy and safe while getting to know one another.
