Dogs are bundles of energy who just love to play and can keep going all day. But unfortunately, someone has to pay the bills, so what do you do when you're at work and your dog is home alone and needs to be kept amused?
For these occasions, there are dog toys, and with the dizzying array of choices available these days, you’re sure to find something that your dog will love.
Here are some cool doy toys that I came across. Pick a few for your dog. He'll love you for it.
Kong Toys – Lots of dogs enjoy chewing stuff, but the problem is that chew toys that break and shatter can be dangerous. Enter the Kong toy, a chew toy designed to withstand the jaws of even the most powerful Mastiff or Rottweiler.
They also have a hollow center, so you can stuff it with treats and challenge the dog to get them out, which is great for brain training.
Tug-a-War Rope – Many dogs enjoy pulling games, but you need a pull toy that won't fray or break after a couple of rounds.
The people at Kong have invented an ingenious little toy to solve the problem. Basically it's a pair of rubber balls in a canvas housing with a canvas cord at the end. It's virtually unbreakable, plus the balls squeak, which adds an extra dimension to the game.
Frisbees – Dogs love chasing a frisbee, but the hard plastic ones are actually dangerous for dogs because they can splinter and cause injury.
Frost Bite Frisbees on the other hand are designed specifically for dogs. They are soft, pliable, and punture when bitten rather than shattering.
Puzzles – No, I don’t mean jigsaws, or crosswords. Puzzles for dogs come in all shapes and sizes and challenge your dog to work something out in order to get a treat.
One cool puzzle toy is the Squirrel Plushy. This is a plush toy that has smaller toys inside it. The challenge for the dog is to try and get the smaller toys out.
Nylabones – Another good toy for the dog that loves to chew. These rubber, bone-shaped chewing toys are incredible strong, so your dog can gnaw away to his hearts content.
Tuffies – These are stuffed toys made specifically with dogs in mind. They are strong and durable, and even come with "toughness" ratings. So you can get one to suit your Pomeranian or even one that your Bull Terrier will have a hard time breaking.
Squirrel Dude – This is one of my dog's favorites. The Squirrel Dude is a rubber toy with a timer that you can set to dispense treats at regular intervals – kind of like a canine vending machine.
Whatever your dog enjoys doing you're bound to find something on this list they he will love. And if you don't, shop around, the dog toy market has literally exploded in recent years, so there's plenty of choice available.

A holiday with your dog can be a really fun time for both of you. But you will have to do a bit of forward planning.
To begin with you'll have to research the requirements for taking a pet to the destinations you're interesting in visiting. With some countries, like the UK, these make traveling with your dog a virtual impossibility unless you're on the PETS scheme.
But even relatively pet-friendly countries have regulations you'll need to comply with.

And then there are the travel arrangements. Traveling with a pet by air or rail can be quite a challenge, so use a specialized pet travel company to make the arrangements for you. This will ensure that you avoid costly, and possibly even tragic mistakes.
You may however, be planning a road trip with your dog, in which case there are a number of things you need to consider and a great deal of planning to be done.
First up, you'll need to consider a dog carrier, or a special doggy seat belt to restrain your dog in the car. From a safety perspective this is a must, and in some countries it is even a legal requirement.
Take into account also that dogs can dehydrate quite quickly. Be sure to take his water bowl and some bottled water and don't ever leave him in the car on a hot day.
Also remember all the normal doggy accessories like his collar, leash, harness, toys, bed and blanket and so on.You'll also need to do some planning as to where you'll stop overnight, and find dog friendly accommodation there. And plan for regular stops so that your dog can stretch his legs and relieve himself.
But there is even more stuff to consider. At your destination, make sure that you buy a cheap dog tag, with your name and local number, for your dog. If you are traveling internationally your dog will have to be micro-chipped, but the id tag gives you extra peace of mind.
It's also a good idea to have a photograph of your dog with you, just in case your dog becomes lost.
Make sure you know where the local vet or animal hospital is. In an emergency you don't want to have to waste time searching for it.
Obey all local bi-laws where you are. This usually means keeping your dog leashed and picking up any messes. It is common courtesy to do this even if there is no local ordinance.
By now you're probably wondering if all of this is worth the trouble. Well, ask yourself how much a trouble free, unforgettable trip with your dog is worth. The likely answer is, priceless!

Owning a dog is one of the most satisfying experiences you can have. They give you unconditional love and companionship and never argue with you! It doesn't cost much to train your dog properly. Often you can find classes in the evening you can attend where you learn and practice the techniques with a trainer as part of a group. As you start to apply the techniques outside of the lessons then your dog will start to listen to you and eventually do what you want without being told to.
