What is the best way to empty a litterbox?
This may seem like an odd question, but…
With my old cat, we would take the entire litterbox and dump it into the dumpster, litter and all.
I'm considering a kitten, but thought that scooping would be more cost-effective. I've been told, though, that the urine will go to the bottom and just create a whole mess of problems.
I guess what I'm asking is: what is the best way to clean out a litterbox? Scooping, with the occasional dumping, or just flat-out dumping the whole thing?

Cheap litter will allow urine to seep to the bottom of the litter pan causing it to go muddy. I've tried all kinds of litters and have found that Fresh Step Clumping litter clumps the best. It's not necessary to dump all the litter every day. When it starts to stink, dump it. With one kitten, I'd say once a week dumping is all you'll need to do.
